China to continue steel production cuts in Q2

(Asia Pacific): Local governments in Tangshan and Handan plans to continue steel production cuts in the second quarter of 2019 to improve the air quality in the cities.

 

Vale shipments of iron ore to drop in 2019

(Central and South America): Vale forecasts that iron ore sales will be decreased by 13-20% or 50-75 million tonnes in 2019. The company production is halted at its Feijao, Vargem Grande, Fabrica Brucutu, Timbopeba and Alegria facilities which are leading towards lower shipments.

 

ArcelorMittal will use hydrogen to reduce carbon footprint in production

(Europe): ArcelorMittal will use hydrogen to produce DRI at its Hamburg plant with the initial pilot capacity of 100,000 tonnes/year. The plan is part of ArcelorMittal strategy to improve sustainability.

 

Bahrain Steel plans to double pallet production

(Middle East): Bahrain Steel operates two pallet production plants in the country. The company is planning to increase its capacity from 11 million tonnes to 22 million tonnes in the next ten years.
