Floating solar plant in Lithuania

(Europe): A trial based project of a 60 kW floating solar plant to be developed by Lietuvos Energijos Gamyba and Kaunas University of Technology. The photovoltaic power plant will be developed at the existing 900-MW Kruonis pumped storage hydroelectric plant in Lithuania. The Lithuanian Business Support Agency (LSBA) will provide $267,500 in funding for the plant. The first stage of the project is expected to be completed by 2021.

 

EAIF to finance hydropower project on Uganda and Tanzania border

(Africa): The UK’s Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF) will provide a loan of $27 million to Kikagati Power Company Limited (KPCL) for the construction of 14MW hydropower plant on the Kagera River at the border of Uganda and Tanzania.  Once operational, it will sell all the power to Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited which will then resell 50% of the electricity to Tanzania.
