Global crude steel output up by 4.1% in February- WSA

(Europe): World’s crude steel production reached 137.3 million tonnes in February 2019. The production increased by 4.1% year-on-year, according to the World Steel Association.

 

India’s crude steel production rose by 4.3% in February- JPC

(Asia Pacific): Crude steel production in India reached 8.54 million tonnes in February. The production increased 4.3% year-on-year however decreased by 2.9% month-on-month, according to India’s Joint Plant Committee (JPC).

 

Big River signed a contract with SMS Group for phase two expansion

(North America): SMS Group has received an order from the US-based Big River Steel for the expansion of phase two of Osceola, Arkansas steel plant. After completion of phase two expansion, the company’s steel production capacity will reach to 3 million tonnes/year.

 

Iran expects an uptick in steel exports in the new Iranian year

(Middle East): The head of Iran Steel Producers Association said that the country’s steel exports are projected to rise in the new Iranian year started from 21 March due to its low prices and high production. The exports potential could be higher in the absence of sanctions.
