Nucor to develop $1.35 billion steel plate mill in the US

(North America): Nucor Corporation plans to invest $1.35 billion in building steel plate mill in the US Midwest. The plant is expected to produce 1.2 million tonnes/year of steel plate and will be fully operational by 2022. Nucor has already operating plate mills in North Carolina, Alabama and Texas.

Marubeni-Itochu to take shares in a forging plant

(Asia Pacific): Japan’s Mrubeni-Itochu Techno Steel Inc. will take a 41% shares in Hakui Maruzen Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of bearings and various forged materials. Hakui Maruzen Co., Ltd. produces and sells steel forged products for bearings and connectors and operates as a subsidiary of NTN Corporation.
