Primetals revamps steel billet caster at Feralpi Italy

(Europe): Primetals Technologies revamped a six strands billet caster at Feralpi Siderurgica in Italy. The up-gradation project has now increased the Feralpi annual production capacity from 1.1 million tonnes to 1.2 million tonnes. Moreover, it also increased the billets cross section to 150 x 150 mm.

 

US steel shipments increased in January

(North America): The US steel shipments in January reached over 8 million tonnes, increased by 3.5% month on month and 5.8% year-on-year, according to American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Moreover, January shipments of CRC, HDG and HRC increased month-on-month by 7%, 5 % and 3% respectively

 

Vale halts shipment operations at Guaiba Island Terminal

(Central and South America): Iron ore mining giant has temporarily suspended port activities at its Guaiba Island Terminal (TIG) following a notice from the city government. Meanwhile, the company claimed to have all the required documentation to continue operations at TIG.

 

JSW crude steel output declined 5.7% in February

(Asia Pacific): India’s JSW produced 1.25 million tonnes of crude steel in February, decreased by 5.7% year-on-year and lowered by 13.4% month-on-month.
