Danieli to build a steel billet plant in Morocco for Riva Industries
(Africa): Morocco’s Riva Industries placed an order for a new billet steel plant in Morocco from Danieli, an Italian equipment manufacturer. The plant will have a nameplate capacity of 800k tonnes/year of steel billets and expected to be commissioned by 2020.
Fincantieri Shipyard starts work on the Holland America Line new ship
(Europe): The construction of Pinnacle Class, the next cruise ship of Holland America Line started at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy. Production of the new ship will be completed by May 2021.
Balfour Beatty secures £1.5bn Network Rail maintenance contract
(Europe): The UK’s leading construction firm Balfour Beatty won £1.5bn Network Rail contract. The company will be responsible for revamping railway tracks and crossings for the next ten years.
Hungary’s construction sector grew by 29.1% in January
(Europe): Hungary’s building sector grew by 28.2% while civil engineering works increased by 32.2% in January 2019 compared to the same month of 2018. The overall construction sector grew by 29.1% year-on-year in January 2019, according to Hungary Central Statistical Office (KSH)
Kenya signs a deal with France for construction of a railway line
(Africa): Kenya signed €3 billion deal with France for the construction of several infrastructure projects including Nairobi CBD-JKIA railway line. The 20 km railway track will be operational by 2021.
