TRAI completes its blockchain pilots with IBM and others

(Asia Pacific): TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has completed various pilots projects with IBM and in collaboration with some other major service providers. These projects were based on the advancements of blockchain in the telecom industry which includes Mobile Number Portability (MNP) and Do Not Call Registry (DNC) (for controlling spam calls). Through these new approaches, companies would be able to store MNP and DNC data in private distributed ledgers, though through customers permission.

 

EU continues considering a ban on Huawei

(Europe): EU is reviewing various proposals to ban Huawei from providing the 5G equipment, stated by the four senior members of EU to Reuters. One option which is on the table is to make amendments in its 2016 cybersecurity law by adding 5G to critical businesses and take high-security measures during deployment. Commodity Inside understands that the recent spying charges on the Huawei executive in Poland also stirred up internal debate in the EU to consider banning Huawei. Although these proposals are at the initial stage but show the concerns in the region about Huawei.
