China to add new pumped hydro capacity

(Asia Pacific): China’s State Grid will develop five pumped hydro storage plants which would have a total capacity of 6GW. These projects will cost nearly $5.7 billion and are expected to be operational by 2026.

(North America): AES Corporation and Kauai Island Utility Cooperative completed battery-based energy storage system comprised of 28MW solar PV and 20MW lithium-ion battery. It will promptly charge the batteries and will supply around 11% of the Kauai’s power.
