The EU imposed anti-dumping duties on imports of hot-rolled stainless steel from Taiwan, Indonesia and China, it announced on 7th April 2020.
The duties are 6 to 7.5% on imports from Taiwan, 17% on imports from Indonesia and 14.5 to 18.9% on imports from China. The tariffs would initially be in force for six months but can be extended for up to five years.
The stainless steel products subject to tariffs fall under the HS codes 721911, 721912, 721913, 721914, 721922, 721923, 721924, 722011 and 722012.
The EU started the investigation in August 2019 on the request of Eurofer.
There was around 66% rise in the imports to the EU from all the three countries during the investigation period between 1st July 2018 and 30th June 2019, the EU Commission concluded.
