Samsung S10 5G phone is used for 4G-5G dual connectivity testing

(Asia Pacific): SK Telecom successfully completed the interoperability of network devices through the technology called Dual Connectivity. It is also known as EN-DC (E-UTRAN New Radio Dual Connectivity, which works on 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) standard.). In this technology, both 4G and 5G technologies are used to get the maximum throughput.

The testing used S10 5G phone in the experiment. Samsung’s Networks Business provided the technology and used Samsung’s virtual core (vCore), which supports simultaneous 4G and 5G.

The achieved speed in the test was 2.65Gbps, which was the result of combining both 1.5Gbps in 5G (use 3.5GHz frequency) and 1.15Gbps in LTE (use 1.8GHz, 2.1GHz, and 2.6GHz frequencies). SK Telecom will be able to increase data speed by 80% by using, both 4G and 5G or dual connectivity.

5G technology applications expanded to remote surgery

(Asia Pacific): The first successful remote surgery on a human being by using the 5G technology was completed in China with the collaboration of China Mobile, Huawei and the Chinese PLA General Hospital. China also performed its first remote surgery earlier on pig using 5G technology by controlling the two robot arms in Fuzhou using 5G technology.
