Construction works start on solar micro girds projects in Tanzania

(Africa): Jumeme Rural Power Supply Ltd has started construction on the first phase of solar hybrid microgrid projects in Lake Victoria, Tanzania. The construction includes 11 micro girds stations which would supply power to 80k people. Installation of the first phase is scheduled to take place this year. Later in the second phase, it would add 11 more mini-grids to provide.

 

National Grid Plc to acquire renewable energy developer in the US

(North America): The UK National Grid PLC enters an agreement to acquire a US-based solar and wind energy developer Geronimo Energy for $100 million. In addition, the company also succeeded in buying a 51% share in 378MW of solar and wind generation project developed by Geronimo for $125 million. The company aims to expand its renewable energy presence in the US.  Both deals are expected to be finalised by mid-2019.

 

NEC Energy Solutions Commissions battery energy storage system in Chile

(Central and South America): NEC Energy Solution delivered 2MW/ 2MWh lithium ion battery storage system to Chilean utility Engie Energía Chile. NEC Energy Solutions is working on three projects which would make its total installed capacity in Chile to 32 MW.
