Prysmian to upgrade Washington power transmission grid in various phases

(North America): Italy’s Prysmian Group is to upgrade the power transmission grid of Washington, D.C in various stages. The project is going to start in 2019 and is expected to be completed by 2026 at the cost of around $190 million. Phase-1 is expected to be completed by 2019 with a cost of $13 million.

Future Trams systems could be powered by batteries to ease congestion

(Europe): The UK Department for Transport plans to introduce a new trams system powered by batteries to reduce congestion. This new light rail work would be cheaper and easier to install instead of using overhead power lines. This will also support reducing the number of cars on the roads. The first British battery-powered tram was introduced in Birmingham in 2018.

Sunrun to install 20 MW capacity with home solar and battery

(Europe): Sunrun, a US-based company, will deliver home solar and batteries as a source of energy capacity to ISO New England, a grid operator. The 20 MW installation would be completed by 2022, the equivalent of to providing power to around 5,000 customers
