Kerdemir to commission 200k railway wheels capacity in H2 2019

(Europe): Kerdemir $124 million railway wheel facility is under testing phase. The plant is expected to start mass production in the second half of 2019 with an annual capacity of 200,000 wheels.

 

Tata Steel restarts refurbished blast furnace in the UK

(Europe): Tata steel restarted the refurbished blast furnace at Port Talbot. The revamp project carried out by Primetals Technologies and completed in January 2019.

 

Major US Automakers sales decreased in Q1 2019

(North America): General Motor (GM) sales reached 665,840 units, decreased by 7% year-on-year in the 1st quarter of 2019. Meanwhile, Toyota Motors sales decreased by 5% to 543,716, and Fiat Chrysler sales dropped by 3% to 498,425.

 

Vauxhall Motors halts production at Ellesmere Port

(Europe): The UK’s Vauxhall Motors has temporarily stopped production at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port facility to reduce Brexit effect as a pre-planned preparation. Although the Brexit deadline has now been extended which was set to be effective from 29 March.
