ThyssenKrupp seeks an extension from EC on Tata Steel merger dialogues
(Europe): ThyssenKrupp applied for an extension of eight working days to finalise the ongoing negotiations with European Commission regarding planned merger with Tata Steel. The merger plan is under EC investigation since October 2018.
CMI will supply an annealing plant to JSW India
(Asia Pacific): India’s JSW Steel Coated Products Ltd., a subsidiary of JSW India, has signed a contract with CMI to install a continuous annealing line of 0.5 million tonnes/year capacity. The new line will process sheets with a thickness range of 0.25 -1.5 mm and width up to 1570 mm with a speed of 300 meters/minutes. The commencement of the line is expected in 2021.
Turkish auto output decreased by 16% in February
(Europe): Turkish automotive production reached 119,473 vehicles in February. The output fell by 16% year-on-year in the month, according to Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). Moreover, cumulative production in the first two months of 2019 fell by 13.7% year-on-year to 229,327 vehicles.
Ford to invest $900 million on its US electric car facility
(North America): Ford Motors announced a plan to expand its electric car production facility in Michigan, the US with an investment of $900. The investment will create 900 new jobs at the plant during the next four years.
