TNB signed a JV with South Korean companies for a virtual power plant in Malaysia
(Asia): Malaysian utility Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has become a partner with South Korean utilities Busan City Gas, I-On Communications and KH Shinhwa (SNC) to develop a virtual power plant as part of a pilot project across five sites in Malaysia. The project is worth around $7 million and to be commercialized in around three years.
SCG Cement to collaborate with Constant Energy for solar power projects in Thailand
(Asia): Siam Cement Group (SCG) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with France’s Constant Energy to install 50MW solar power plants in several provinces across Thailand. The solar photovoltaic (PV) unit would include rooftop, ground-mounted and floating technologies which are likely to supply the power directly from the Constant Energy plants to the factories. Both companies aim to install and commission solar PV plants in the next three years.
Ameren Missouri signed a deal with Landis+Gyr for utility IoT network
(North America): Landis+Gyr, has signed a contract with Ameren Missouri, a subsidiary of Ameren Corporation, to install 1.4 million advanced meters and utility Internet of Things (IoT) network, to support Ameren Missouri’s Smart Meter Project. The network will support the connectivity to the 1.27 million advanced electricity meters and 130k gas meters. The working operation of the IoT network is expected to start in January 2020. In addition, the agreement also includes the operation and maintenance of the meter data management system (MDMS).
