Microsoft inks solar purchase energy agreement with Invenergy
(North America): Microsoft Corp. with a US-based renewable company Invenergy signed a 15-year power purchased agreement (PPA) for the construction of 74MW Wilkinson Solar power project in North Carolina, US. The solar farm will consist of more than 256,620 PV modules to power the facility. Upon completion in 2019 and operational, the total Microsoft renewable energy consumption will be reached to more than 1.3GW.
Magallanes’ tidal device starts power generation in Scotland
(Europe): Spain’s Magallanes Renovables has generated its first electricity from its 2MW floating tidal device at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Scotland, UK. The tidal energy converter (TEC) was deployed and installed last month at EMEC Warness tidal energy test site as part of the ocean 2G project. It is connected to the national grid through cables and onshore substation.
